Dark Clouds

9th grade writing assignment - hurray for iambic pentameter!

Dark Clouds

The dark clouds consume my head late at night.
I lie there terrified to fall asleep.
I cry when you are not holding me tight.
I know not of what is going to creep.
The wind blows, and the old wood door slams shut.
Why have you left me, and will you come back?
When with you butterflies are in my gut.
In my life it is only you I lack.
Without you I will never be the same.
Who is responsible for my life's theft?
Which one of us is the person to blame?
I feel empty, like there is nothing left.
I hope that you will soon realize your love.
It's time to return to my home above.
